Clarendon is a slab serif font that was created in 1845 by Thorowgood and Co. It has a distinct style with thick, block-like letters. (Thorowgood and Besley) of London, is a letter-making factory that is sometimes referred to as the Fann Street Foundry.
The original Clarendon design was created by Robert Besley and engraved by Benjamin Fox. It has been copied, adapted, and revived many times, becoming a whole category of type design.
